We hope that this email finds all of you and your loved ones in good health. The Greek Politics Specialist Group is pleased to share the following news and details about calls for papers, research opportunities, and events:

GPSG NEWS

1. GPSG Competition – Call for Papers: The Greek Politics Specialist Group (GPSG) invites Working Papers under the call “Greece Through a Pandemic Crisis: Policy Responses, Challenges and Impact”. We particularly encourage papers by young academics and researchers (including PhD candidates) on comparative, cross-disciplinary and collaborative research, as well as papers featuring original ideas and empirical data. All methodological and epistemological approaches based on sound social science reasoning are welcome. Selected papers will be published in the GPSG Working Paper series.
Papers (including paper title, 200-word abstract, institutional affiliation and full contact details) should be submitted to: [email protected] copying [email protected].
The best paper will receive an award of £150. The second best paper will receive an award of £100.
Submission Deadline:  31 July 2020.

2. GPSG Virtual Roundtable: The Greek Politics Specialist Group (GPSG) is pleased to invite you to a virtual roundtable titled “Managing the COVID-19 Pandemic: Lessons learned and avenues for political science research”. The event is organised by GPSG with the participation of the Italian, Turkish, German, French, Nordic, Irish, and Spanish PSA Specialist Groups, and the ECPR Southern European Politics.
All GPSG members are cordially invited to join us in Zoom by clicking on this link on Friday, 29 May, at 15.00-16.30 GMT.

 
RECENT PUBLICATIONS

1. New Book Publication: A new book titled “Public Discourses and Attitudes in Greece during the Crisis: Framing the Role of the European Union, Germany and National Governments” edited by Dimitris Katsikas, Assistant Professor at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and Head of the Crisis Observatory, has been published. This text will be of key interest to scholars and students of European Union politics, Greek and Southern European Studies, and more broadly to Cultural and Comparative Politics, and Political Economy and European Politics.

DOCUMENTARY RELEASE
 

1. “Deterrence”: A feature-length documentary titled “Deterrence”, created by Roman Gerodimos, has now been released. The documentary looks at the main security challenges facing Europe, and the past, present and future of NATO. It also has an educational strand as it introduces and explains key concepts (e.g. deterrence, hybrid warfare, the security dilemma, MAD, etc.) and briefly outlines the history of deterrence from WW2 to today.
